Sean Killion
Assistant Coach

Sean Killion returned to the Christopher Newport campus as a volunteer assistant coach with the nationally-ranked women's soccer program in 2020 and was elevated to the full-time position in Spring of 2021. Entering his second year with the Captains this season, the CNU alum has been a member of the coaching ranks since 2015.

A native of Crofton, Maryland, Killion played for the Captains from 2010-13 and was a two-year starter at goalkeeper. He earned All-Conference honors and inserted his named amongst the best between the pipes in program history. He still ranks eighth in career goals-against average (1.10) and ninth in career victories (19). He recorded nine shutouts in 31 starts and helped lead the Captains to the NCAA Tournament in 2012.

Immediately following his graduation from Christopher Newport, Killion started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant and goalkeeper coach for the men's program at CNU. he then moved on to to work with both the men's and women's teams at St. Mary's College of Maryland as an assistant coach for two seasons.

After his tenure with the Seahawks, Killion helped build Bridgewater into a contender in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, helping the Eagles reach its first ODAC Championship Game in 2018. Serving as a graduate assistant coach for two years, Killion helped guide a team-record five All-Conference selections and saw the squad post 16 wins in two years.

Killion graduated from CNU in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in communication studies and a minor in business administration. He and his wife Kirsten live in Newport News.
